These magical nuts grow on the the Sapindus tree in the Himalayan foothills - the tree actually thrives in harsh environments and infertile soil! The tree is incredibly resilient to diseases and doesn't need any kind of fertilizer or pesticides. Fun fact! The use of Soap Nuts as a cleaning agent can be traced back to India as early as the 3rd century.
HOW TO USE: How do you use Soap Nuts? Our favorite way is to clean laundry! You simply place about 5 nuts in a small cotton drawstring bag, pop it in your washing machine and wash as normal! The nuts contain Saponin which is a natural cleaning agent that suds up when in water. You can use the same 5 soap nuts for multiple loads (up to 5-10 times!). Once your soap nuts are softer to the touch and appear grayer, it's tie to compost them. There are so many other ways to use Soap Nuts.
